A probabilistic theory of trust concerning artificial intelligence: can intelligent robots trust humans?

چکیده
In this paper, I argue for a probabilistic theory of trust, and the plausibility “trustworthy AI” in which we trust (as opposed to mere reliance). show that current theories cannot accommodate pertaining AI, propose an alternative theory, accounts four major types AI-related trust: AI agent’s another agent, human object (including mental complex objects). draw broadly neglected distinction between transitive intransitive senses each calls distinctive semantical theory. Based on distinction, classify into trustworthiness, showing fail model some trust; while proposed conditional unlike theories, is scalable, they would also non-AI, including interpersonal reciprocal one-sided as well objects—e.g., thoughts, data, algorithms, systems, institutions.

Can We Trust Trust?
In this concluding essay I shall try to reconstruct what seem to me the central questions about trust that the individual contributions presented in this volume raise and partly answer. In the first section, I briefly qualify the claim that there is a degree of rational cooperation that should but does not exist, and I shall give a preliminary indication of the importance of the beliefs we hold...
متن کاملTheory and Trust in Artiicial Intelligence
Knowledge engineers qualiied to build expert systems are currently in short supply. We propose that production of useful and trustworthy expert systems can be signiicantly increased by pursuing the idea of articulate apprenticeship independent of computer implementations. Making theoretical progress in artiicial intelligence should also help.
متن کاملThe Place of Ethical Intelligence in Management of Organizational Trust
Background: Moral intelligence is one of the dimensions of intelligence that can provide a framework for proper human functioning. The purpose of this study is to investigate the position of moral intelligence in the management of organizational trust of credit institutions. Method: The research is developmental-applied in terms of purpose and mixed (qualitative-quantitative) in terms of metho...

متن کاملProbabilistic Computational Trust
We argue briefly for the role of computational trust in ubiquitous computing, and in particular for the need of a formal foundation for computational trust. We provide two examples towards such a foundation: a formal foundation for a some probabilistic approaches from the literature, and a formal framework for comparing probabilistic
